From BI-ISIF 2013 ....With Something (I hope)

What is so special about international seminar? From the deepest of my heart, my only interest in such seminar is to become speaker and everyone is listening about my presentation. Nothing else. Now, you can imagine how reluctant someone if he is involved in the seminar he is not interested in. Let alone become its committee member.

That was happened to us, especially me. For almost 3 months we had been preparing International Seminar on Islamic Finance, which would be conducted in Nusa Dua Bali, on 30-31 May 2013. We had undergone many sufferings from many changes in the program, especially from cancellations many speakers. I myself beceme the victim of unexpected change by assigment to become "incidental chairman" after two speakers in the first session cancelled their arrival in the last minutes. Become chairman in seminar session might be an honour for some people, but for me it just a "pass-by work". Surely, I am not disgracing of that noble work, but it is bad planning that make us very sorry for the whole program.

Now the seminar is over. Everyone is back to their places, including international speaker who went back to their own countries, after having fun in what they call "the island of gods". What is left for us is the bills and claims to settle. Normally, it will take weeks even months to do it.

Everyone admire and praise for what we have done. Surely they do because they like to come, and enjoy the program. But for those who work all day and night, it becomes nightmare. We hope this is the last time we join as the committee. If we do it again, next time we hope we can only be a participant.  We did not receive any additional knowledge or qualified work other, than being exhausted and tire-out because of the seminar. Compared with our own work in central bank- whose core is supervision and regulation- this kind of work is just equivalent to having an intermezzo between the hard and difficult duty.

Sorry for that, bro.
